The Spanish embassy, in collaboration with the Maltese-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, recently presented a selection of wines from bodegas González Byass to guests from the restaurant, hotel and business communities at the residence of the Spanish Ambassador Felipe de la Morena in Balzan.

González Byass representative Christopher Canale-Parola presented a selection of eight renowned wines from four of González Byass’ six wineries from the regions of DO Jerez, DOCa Rioja, Tierra de Cádiz and Tierra de Castilla.

Guests had the opportunity to taste a selection of wines that began with the iconic Tio Pepe, a dry fino sherry, followed by Altozano Blanco, a fresh Verdejo/Sauvignon Blanc blend, and Finca Constancia Parcela 52, a monovarietal, oaked Verdejo.

The tasting continued to a selection of reds: Finca Constancia Parcela 23, a monovarietal Tempranillo, followed by Beronia Reserva and Gran Reserva from DOCa Rioja, and finally the pioneering red wine from Tierra de Cádiz, Finca Moncloa .

The tasting concluded with the indulgent dessert sherry Nectar.

Mr Canale-Parola spoke about the international importance of the wine industry in Spain and expressed his desire to further enhance the presence of Spanish wines in Malta and promote business relations between thetwo countries.

The Spanish company DaGusto Wine Marketing was a key collaborating partner in the organisation of the event.
