Malta extended their perfect start in the 2014 Commonwealth Championships after brushing aside Singapore 18-8 in Aberdeen yesterday.

It was another strong performance from Karl Izzo’s men who quickly gained control after taking a commanding 6-1 lead in the opening session.

Singapore hit back, winning the second session 2-1, but it was the Maltese who enjoyed a comfortable 7-3 lead in the interval.

Malta edged the third quarter by the odd goal in seven to lead 11-6 with only one session left.

They killed off their opponents in the final session when netting seven goals to Singapore’s two to wrap up their third successive win.

Matthew Zammit was Malta’s leading scorer with five goals.

Today, Malta play their fourth match against South Africa.

Malta lead the standings with six points, two ahead of England who have a game in hand.
