Design blueprints for solar-powered distillation systems will be constructed and installed in homes across Guatemala to provide families with about five litres of clean drinking water a day.

The units were donated to the Guatemala Operation of Doctors 2014 by the University of Malta’s Faculty of Engineering.

The design was used in a project funded by the Malta Council for Science and Technology.

The programme is an activity of Good 2014, a group which supports Fr Joseph Camilleri of San Juan Battista Hospital in Guatemala.

The next mission to the country will be held in June.
