Three solar charging stations powered directly by sunlight and used to charge electric vehicles will be installed in port areas as part of a €2.5 million project.

Transport Malta announced it would also buy eight electric vehicles, cover the Malta Transport Centre with solar panels and engage in an in-depth study into the possibility of using greener energy instead of the heavy fuel oil used to power vessels berthed at Grand Harbour.
