With recent figures showing that both the gainfully occupied and unemployed totals had grown, the government and the PN were yesterday arguing over whether this was success or failure.

Job figures showed the employment rate rose from 59.7 per cent at the beginning of the legislature, to 61.3 per cent by the third quarter.

The government said job creation was now double that of the previous government and stability was restored.

But the PN countered that the government was not keeping up with demand, with unemployment on the rise, as there were no international factors to justify the increase.
