A worker escaped serious injury after spray equipment he was using at a Marsa factory blew up.
The cause of the blast was unknown but sources said it may have been the result of concentrated fumes. A small fire that ensued was put out by the employees using a fire extinguisher before the civil protection arrived, according to the sources.
The man was hospitalised and kept under observation but was seen walking unaided to the ambulance.
Firefighters entered the building using breathing equipment to ensure it was safe and then ventilated the place.
The factory offers sandblasting, galvanising and spraying services.
The police are investigating.
