The organisers of the international Dona Un Sorriso Cup, in Bellinzona, Switzerland, have invited the Under-13 team of Sliema Wanderers to participate in the second edition of the tournament which will be played this weekend.

The Dona Un Sorriso Cup or-ganisers are also involved in charity work and help seriously ill children in various countries.

Other teams to take part include Villarreal (Spain), Red Belgrade (Serbia), Basle (Switzerland), Inter (Italy) and Torino (Italy).

In a statement, Sliema nursery chairman Mark Pace said his club was not only proud to be invited to play in the tournament but also satisfied that they will be helping to raise funds for charity.

The Sliema Under-13 team is led by Claude Chetcuti.

He said all players in his squad were looking forward to participate in the tournament and contribute to such a noble cause.

“This will be an important experience in our team’s football and personal development,” he said.
