A magistrate yesterday jailed a man who made a bomb threat two weeks ago, the second imprisonment over such an offence within a week

Magistrate Doreen Clarke jailed kiosk owner Joseph Brincat, 50, also known as Il-Ġojja, from Birkirkara, for six months after he admitted to phoning the court house on May 18 and claiming there was a bomb in a bid to have his VAT case postponed.

He also admitted to breaching the conditions of a previous release and bail conditions in a case in which he stands charged with usury.

Lawyer Giannella Caruana Curran was defence counsel.

Carlos Falzon, 24, of Żejtun was last week found guilty of making two phone calls to police headquarters in Floriana from a phone booth opposite the law court in Valletta last December. He was jailed for two years.
