Children under 14 may travel to Sicily for free under changes to Virtu Ferries’s travel policies.

The company is waiving the fare for up to two youngsters when accompanied by two paying adults.

This is one of several measures announced last week under its ‘Keep It Simple’ approach, which also lifted penalties imposed on traveller no-shows and requests to change names on passenger or driver and vehicle tickets.

It will also now be possible to change the date of travel without incurring a charge.

All that people will need to jump on the Jean De La Valette to Sicily would be a valid travel document.

“Malta is in the Schengen Zone and travelling to our closest overseas neighbour, Sicily, should be as simple as getting from Valletta to Pietà,” Virtu Ferries said.
