Fresh out of the studio, where they have been recording their third album Walk into Nothing, The Areola Treat will be giving their first live performance this year next Sunday at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity.

The Silent Noise concert is something the band is particularly looking forward to; a challenge to find a balance between the venue’s intimate setting and the band’s signature decibel excess. However, they stress, this will be no unplugged event.

“We don’t kid ourselves in trying to arrange our songs for acoustic sessions or anything of the sort,” guitarist Adrian Mizzi explained, by way of assuring that the gig will still be a loud affair. So what then, attracted them to hold it in the intimate setting St James Cavalier offers?

“The idea for this gig came out of the lack of respect for the performing band that the public tends to have when attending gigs in clubs,” Mizzi added. “People talk when they should be listening, so the idea of a seated venue without a bar and where no one can step out for a smoke appealed to us.”

All is set then for a performance that will feature a mixture of old, new and a couple instrumental tracks – darker, not as upbeat, but definitely loud.

Tickets for Silent Noise cost €8 and are available either from the St James Cavalier box office or online. For more information, look up The Areola Treat’s page on Facebook.
