The photographic exhibition, titled The Baby Factor, was mounted by the Malta Girl Guides Association in collaboration with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ.

Family Minister Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca yesterday praised the initiative as it helped to raise awareness about issues concerning children.

Society, she continued, was obliged to consider children as citizens of the country.

The minister added that Malta had strong values relating to raising children, yet children were still set aside in some situations.

There are around 600 children in out-of-home care. The minister went on to thank all those who worked with children, particularly foster parents who create a family environment.

The exhibition will run until Saturday at Palazzo Ferreria, Valletta.
