A Serbian man was jailed for six weeks after a shoplifting offence led to bigger loot.

Milan Glusec, 26, was charged with stealing whisky from Shop Inn Supermarket in St Paul’s Bay at around 9.15am on Monday.

But when the police searched his St Paul’s Bay apartment they also found tools worth around €800 that had been reported stolen last July from a shop in Cospicua.

Magistrate Marseann Farrugia jailed him for six weeks and, once he has served his term, Mr Glusec will be deported back to Serbia.
