A shop owner escaped unhurt yesterday morning as four shots were fired at his grocery store in Paola.

The 55-year-old man was in the shop, called @ Your Service, in St Joseph Street, when shots were fired in his direction at around 5.30am.

Two hit the shop window, shattering glass, while another two were aimed towards the entrance.

It is not clear whether the shots were fired by more than one person.

The man, from Paola, was not hurt but was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.

The police are investigating and several court experts were appointed to assist with the magisterial inquiry.
