The family of England football hero Bobby Moore said yesterday they were “deeply shocked and distraught” at the death of his son.

The body of Dean Moore, 43, was discovered on Thursday morning at his home in Notting Hill, west London.

Police are treating his death as “unexplained” and are not looking for any suspects.

In 1997 Mr Moore took over the running of a pub opposite Chelsea’s ground at Stamford Bridge.

The Moore family said in a statement: “We are deeply shocked and distraught at the sudden passing of our beloved Dean.

“We will, along with many, many others, miss his warmth, kindness, generosity and most of all his wonderful sense of humour and big heart.

“We have lost a dear father, son, brother and uncle, and he will be sorely missed not just by us his family, but by all those whose lives he touched.

“We ask that, at this very difficult and painful time, our privacy be respected so that we can in some small way try to come to terms with our loss.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers were called to an address in St Charles Square by the London Ambulance Service shortly before midday.

He added: “The male was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed. A post mortem will be scheduled in due course.”
