The Water Services Corporation is investigating the cause of a sewage overflow from Iċ-Ċumnija sewage treatment plant in Mellieħa.

The problem was reported on Sunday and the overflow was stopped on Tuesday morning.

The corporation said its officials were looking into the operations and maintenance procedures that were followed before, during and after the failure in an attempt to establish what led to the overflow and to avoid a repetition.
