Since early April 2013 there had been seven resignations from the Malta Tourism Authority in directorial and management positions, minister Edward Zammit Lewis told Carm Mifsud Bonnici (PN) in reply to a parliamentary question on Monday. He added that no employee was obliged to give a reason for their resignation.

The minister added that in the same period Transport Malta had terminated the employment of the Director General of Civil Aviation.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary John Borg had been transferred to the Gozo Ministry, and Tourism Director Julian Zarb had not had his expiring contract renewed.

In keeping with normal practice, seven members of Air Malta’s board of directors had offered their resignation before the general election and another had resigned for personal reasons.
