Senglea Athletic 4
San Ġwann 0

Senglea scored four goals in the second half to beat San Ġwann and go back to third place in the standings, one point ahead of Pieta Hotspurs.

This was no easy match for Senglea as they were made to sweat in the opening half.

However, San Ġwann were unable to maintain the pace after the break to concede their 10th defeat and stay embroiled in the relegation dogfight.

The Saints created the first opening through Jan Tanti. He tried his luck from an angle but keeper Jeffrey Farrugia was on the right spot to save.

Senglea came more into the picture as the minutes ticked by. Obaje Aud-Gustine ran through from the left before releasing Ryan Dalli who headed over.

San Ġwann had a goal disallowed soon after the break and more woes laid in store for them when Dalli hit home after a Senglea fast break.

The Saints tried to hit back and equalise. On 65 minutes, Tanti headed just wide from a free-kick.

Senglea never panicked and scored a second when Aud-Gustine profited from some hesitant defending and thumped the ball home after his first shot came off the upright.

San Ġwann had no fight left in them as Senglea added a third following a Mattia Del Negro goal after a melee inside Matthew Town’s box.

Deep into stoppage time substitute Miguel Ciantar rounded the score to 4-0 with a scorcher that flew past the keeper.
