ICT Solutions recently held a seminar on unified computing. The event was held at the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay and was attended by more than 90 business and IT executives.
Organised in collaboration with Cisco and Hitachi Data Systems, the presentations were given by Cisco’s product specialist at UCS, Eugenios Zervoudis, who spoke about how Cisco has moved on from being a network solution provider to offering a complete consolidated computing environment that includes scalable and cost-effective blade and rack mount servers.
The seminar was also addressed by Klemen Bertoncelj, senior solutions consultant at HDS. Mr Bertoncelj focused on how storage technology is evolving and presented the HDS product portfolio of high availability storage solutions. The range of solutions scale from smaller appliances to high-end data centre storage solutions.
Keith Fearne, managing director at ICT Solutions, said consolidation of servers and storage into a virtualised architecture was an important topic, with businesses looking at how they can save money through better utilisation of assets, less management overhead and space and energy savings.
“We have a long relationship with Cisco on the networking side and are looking forward to be able to also enter the market with server solutions. HDS is a partner we have worked with for some years and have already a number of local businesses using their storage solutions. They complement Cisco’s unified computing architecture very well.”
