Gozo’s regional development was the main theme of a recent seminar organised by the Gozo Regional Committee at Hotel Calypso as part of its annual general meeting.
The seminar was opened by the president of the Regional Committee, Samuel Azzopardi, who spoke on the need of a new approach towards the advancement of the Gozitan region. He said financial services and i-gaming platforms should be created in Gozo as was the case in Malta.
He also spoke of the need for Gozitans to venture abroad and develop relations with other regions in the EU as the regional committee was doing with Emilia Romagna and eight regions eligible for aid from the EU Structural Funds (Objective 1) at the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS 2 level).
Other speakers at the seminar were Justice Minister Chris Said, Gozo Business Chamber chairman Michael Grech, Gozo Tourism Association CEO Joe Muscat and economist Gordon Cordina.
