Up and coming fashion designer Sef Farrugia has recently launched her first collection of fashion wear.
Before graduating with a BA (Hons) Fashion Degree from Ravenshourne University, Farrugia had also studied at London College of fashion and completed a national diploma in arts and design at Mcast.
Farrugia, who is based between Malta and London, has previously worked for designer Giles Deacon and young British labels, Craig Lawrence and Joanne Hynes, where she has gained first-hand experience of running a label at different stages.
Farrugia has also won a ‘One to Watch’ award which was judged by UK-based designers Louise Gray, Annalisa Dunn and Guy Hipwell of Fashion 156.
She has had press recognition from various platforms such as Vogue Italia, Hilary Alexander and Fiasco magazine. She has dressed singer Eliza Doolittle on her South American tour.
Farrugia’s collection takes its main inspiration from films based on British colonial times, patterned tiles and referenced particular individuals like editor Anna Piaggi. The collection then translates into rich printed silks and intricate knitwear.
In August, Farrugia will be showcasing her collection at Southsea Fashion Week UK. She will be also launching a high-end satin/silk scarf collection later on this year.
