Security in critical locations in Malta has been stepped up in the wake of Osama Bin Laden’s death at the hands of US Special Forces, The Times has learnt.
A spokesman for the Home Affairs Ministry confirmed that security in “a number of key locations” including embassies was beefed up yesterday following the news.
Bin Laden’s death has sparked fears of potential reprisal attacks.
The US ordered its embassies to be on high alert and the UK advised British nationals overseas to monitor the media carefully for local reactions, remain vigilant, exercise caution in all public places and avoid demonstrations, large crowds of people and public events.
