What type of training do security guards at Mater Dei receive? While visiting my grandfather, who died, the security guard on duty kept insisting that we could not be next to him all at one go, which is understandable at certain times of the day. However, he insisted on this even on a calm Sunday afternoon, when there was no one in the ward.

To my horror, the security guard engaged in a friendly ‘wrestling’ match with another employee of the hospital.

Having left the hospital at 7pm, Mater Dei then called us at 10pm. I was the first one to arrive, obviously upset and expecting bad news. I was unable to open the door yet the security guard remained seated and simply pointed to another entry.

It took me 10 minutes to enter the hospital – 10 minutes that I lost because the person who should have directed me to the right entry didn’t feel like getting up off his seat.
