A few weeks ago I needed to deliver by hand, to the army officer on guard duty at San Anton Palace, a letter to be forwarded to the President. It was neither easy nor for that mattertoo complicated.
The two army personnel informed me that strict security measures are in place. I opened my letter, the contents of which were thoroughly scrutinised, including the inside of the envelope. I was asked for my ID card and all details were taken down.
I was impressed by the high security measures the AFM takes to safeguard the President.
I wish to bring this pleasant experience to the attention of the AFM commander, Brigadier Martin G. Xuereb, and to President George Abela.
The army is doing a fine job, and he is in excellent hands.
