Belgravia Auction Gallery in St Julian’s will be holding its seasonal auction on December 14, featuring a collection of items worth looking into.
Apart from the normal fare of 19th-century Maltese and English furniture for all rooms, there are some highly decorative pieces, including a Venetian red tortoiseshell and ivory cabinet, a pair of De Rohan period armchairs in leather, and a bureau from the Perellos era.
There are about 100 lots of Maltese and European silver, most notable of which is a Perellos period coffee pot. Paintings will include masterpieces by old masters, Maltese works of art, and post-war and contemporary art.
There will also be 18th- and 19th-century silver pill and snuff boxes, Asian and Japanese carved ivory (okimono), scent bottles and smoking pipes, popular 16th- to 19th-century majolica pharmacy jars from Caltagirone, Asian and Chinese porcelain, Church artefacts and crib figures.
