Health Minister Konrad Mizzi told Opposition counterpart Claudio Grech that of the 3,252 people in the national screening for colon cancer, 108 were found positive and referred for further tests. He said 77 of these had potentially pre-malignant polyps. Seven new cases were diagnosed.

The breast screening service was used by 6,216 women from January to May – 51.2 per cent of those called – against 36.7 per cent for the colon tests.
