Teens Ben (Tye Sheridan), Augie (Joey Morgan) and Carter (Logan Miller) are Boy Scout members and have been friends for a long time. Rogers (David Koechner) is their Scout leader.

The trio is now in high school and while Augie still feels at home in the Scouts, Ben and Carter are looking for something different. While on a camping trip, they secretly leave Augie sleeping to go to a secret senior party. But instead they find an empty town that is under attack by a ravening mass of zombies.

Help arrives in the form of waitress Denise (Sarah Dumont). Soon they are on a mission to find the rest of the teens, save them and their town from the zombies and the military who is aiming to address the issue by simply eliminating the town from the map.

The Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is a naff B movie. Mixing scouts, cocktail waitresses and zombies in one movie is a charming proposition. The cast members acquit themselves well and the three actors who play the scouts fit in well into the roles and look realistic. The movie also has a fun element to it.

The zombies seem to be a whole spoof of the genre. All in all the zombie action as presented here is nothing new for the die-hard fans, however, it does deliver a few scenes that are either homage or inspired by other movies, such as George Romero’s Day of the Dead (1985).

The film seems to be intent on pandering to an audience that is young and who has yet to discover the classics of the genre while at the same time leaving bits and pieces for the veteran viewer out there to rekindle old memories of zombie films.
