The second instalment of Science in the City is set to “knock the socks off” visitors, according to project coordinator Alex Felice.
Prof. Felice said a number of young scientists, researchers and artists would be welcoming the public to a “delightfully informative” evening of demonstrations, debates, science cafes, hands-on experiments and more.
The activities will be held across Valletta, from the Upper Barrakka Gardens, Auberge de Castille and St James Cavalier, down Republic Street and Merchants Street to St George’s Square and Old Market Square.
Prof. Felice said the event aimed to spark the public’s curiosity about science. “We want to show there is a lot of high-quality research happening on the island. This will bring researchers closer to the public and highlight how society is benefiting from the results of their work,” he said.
Project manager Edward Duca said the capital would be littered with iPoints stocked with information on different events being held.
Dr Duca also announced a number of “firsts” for the event, among them a 3D architectural light show on the newly restored facade of Castille. The innovative show was coordinated in collaboration with the Valletta 18 Foundation and Notte Bianca.
