The 20th anniversary of the Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet was celebrated with a two-act performance, Into the Garden, held at Sir Temi Zammit Theatre, University of Malta, and featuring a cast of over 125 students.

Sadly, for this production the school missed its beloved stage manufacturer for 17 years, Charles Axisa, who died tragically earlier this year. Mr Axisa has been succeeded by his family, particularly his son Clint.

Olivia Dow has two studios in Naxxar, and lessons are held regularly for boys and girls. On Saturday, senior students have intensive training, which is incorporated in their ballet classes.

Ms Dow is assisted by three, fully-qualified teachers along with other students, who are furthering their teaching course. The school coaches students in thetraditional Russian Classical Ballet – Legat System.

Ballet examinations are held annually in November by foreign examiners appointed by the Russian Ballet Society in Edinburgh, a member of the Council for Dance Education & Training in the UK.

Children aged three years and over are welcome to the school, and the first two lessons for beginners are offered free.

The Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet is in 106, Triq Leli Falzon, Naxxar NXR 2609. For more information, call on 2142 2592, 2158 3368, or 9947 4127, or send an e-mail to news@oliviadow.com.
