Terrence Scerri’s one-year ban has been reduced to eight matches on appeal.

The MFA Disciplinary Commissioner had suspended the Valletta striker for one year for kicking Christian Cassar after the FA Trophy final but the Citizens filed an appeal.

Citing Malta FA rules on violent behaviour, Valletta president Victor Sciriha argued that Scerri’s punishment was too harsh as the offence was not as grave as interpreted by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner. The Malta FA Appeals Board accepted Valletta’s arguments and cut Scerri’s ban to eight games.

Valletta didn’t appeal the five-match ban imposed on Scerri for remarks he made at referee Paul Caruana. This means that Scerri – who is currently banned from entering football stadia for a year – has been suspended for a total of 13 games, which he must serve in the next MFA competitions.
