The Malta Society of Model Makers is holding a scale model exhibition of various ships, warplanes, figures, cars, tanks and dioramas of various scales today at the Catholic Institute in Floriana. The exhibition will be open all day until 5pm.

Of particular interest is the figure section made up of casted white metal and resin soldiers. All figures are hand-painted in their authentic military uniforms by members of the society. Also some very well built dioramas depict various actions during World War II.

There is a specific section in which club members will be constructing their models, giving the opportunity to visitors to interact with the modellers, as well as observe the different techniques used.

Fully functional marine models, mainly local patrol and tug boats, will also be on display.

The society was founded in 2003 and an annual exhibition has been held since. Throughout the years, the society has strengthened its position in the local community by holding regular lectures, meetings and exhibitions.

Keeping in mind its main role – to enhance scale modelling within Maltese society – the MSMM holds regular weekly meetings at the Ċentru Kultura Franġiskana in Floriana, from 6 to 8pm every Thursday.

The society has also established a twinning agreement with foreign clubs and attends international exhibitions which enable it to build contacts with foreign clubs resulting in exchange visits.
