True, parking in Mosta is an issue. In fact, the people of Mosta do not oppose the underground car park project since we are aware that the community would benefit. However the proposal of building a multi-storey underground car park just a few metres away from the Rotunda has raised serious concerns and doubts among the people of Mosta.
The Rotunda is the pride of Mosta. Many tourists who visit the church daily are impressed with this building.
I believe it is common sense that carrying out excavation works just metres away from the Rotunda would pose a serious threat and unnecessary risks to the church building. If the Rotunda is at the heart of the people of Mosta why should we encourage such a project that will cause an even bigger problem?
The government should help us protect this national monument and not endanger it.
