“If you can see it, you can be it” is the motivational motto London-based Maltese artist Sarah Harrison has held sacred ever since this young woman set out to achieve her career goals in the music industry.

Releasing her first-ever DJ mix in October 2012, her passion for trap music was more than evident, with the media labelling her UK Lady of Trap, a tag that in turn inspired the title of her mix CD LadyAndTheTRAP releases.

Her interest in this sub-genre of hip hop was a result of her keen ear for beat-making and her obsession with the 808 drum-machine – a combination also reflected in her crossover role of DJ and producer.

Although she specialises in this genre, her sets also stretch out to encapsulate a vast part of the hip hop/rythmn and blues spectrum, even venturing into the electronic dance music culture currently making its mark on the rave circuit.

Earlier this year, Harrison signed a management deal with the founder of influential UK urban act So Solid Crew, who took an instant interest in her after watching her DJ at Skepta (of Boy Better Know)’s Blacklisted launch party.

As a result, she has been signed up as the host DJ on So Solid Crew’s They Don’t Know upcoming UK tour, which kicks off on October 1 and ends four days later with a performance at the O2 Arena in London.

Her talent has even reached out across the Atlantic, bringing her in contact with American hip hop icon Snoop Dogg, with whom she toured and produced some new songs in Europe last year, and more recently, Ciara, whom Harrison cites as a major inspiration. The Maltese artist has, in fact, supported Ciara at her IndigO2 Musicalise headline gig in London just two nights ago.

Meanwhile, Harrison was also approached recently during her DJ set at The W in Leicester Square, London, by the legendary female rapper Eve, who was impressed by her knowledge of US hip hop.

This month is also quite busy for this budding artist, as she not only makes her debut as a radio presenter with UK’s Biggest on Bang 103.6 FM, but will also be taking her DJing on the road, starting with a gig in Landshut, Germany, on June 29.

Despite her young age, Harrison has made great inroads into what is a very competitive business, and by the looks of things, we will be hearing much more of her in the near future.
