Saint Nicholas, accompanied by his servants called ‘Zwarte Pieten’ (‘Black Peters’) arrived on horseback at the Dutch Ambassador’s residence in Ta’ Xbiex to give presents to a group of excited children. Dutch youngsters tend to regard December 5 as the most important day of the Christmas season.
