Sankthans is a mysterious, magical night in Norway: the longest day of the year, when in many parts of the country the sun doesn’t set, and the coast is lit everywhere with huge bonfires that can be seen from miles away.
In the far north of the country, the sun hasn’t set for days, or even weeks, and the Norwegians make the most of it. All along the coast in the south of the country, friends and family gather around huge bonfires, grilling sausages, drinking and swimming in the sea and drying on land.
Traditionally this is a time when trees speak, trolls and goblins run rampant in the forests and the ‘little people’ come out of hiding, so find a bonfire and enjoy this special night, one of the most magical in Norway.
Fly to Olso direct from Malta with Norwegian Air.
