Yachts sail near Trieste yesterday during the 44th Barcolana regatta. More than 1,600 boats are taking part in this annual race in the Gulf of Trieste (northern Italy). The Barcolana regatta is regarded as the largest sailing race in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. It began in 1969 with no more than 50 boats and takes place annually on the second Sunday of October.
