Cantica Alba of Scotland recently held a sacred choral recital at St Francis church, as part ofGaulitana: A Festival of Music.

The recital featured Renaissance motets by Tallis, Byrd and Gibbons, romantic works by Bruckner, Brahms, Rheinberger, Grieg and Stanford and contemporary compositions by Durufle, MacMillan and Jackson.

The 10-strong choral group (whose members hail from all over Britain) was directed by Michael Harris, the organistand master of music at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.
