The Scottish FA (SFA) honoured their promise made to Maltese official Marco Borg last autumn and today he will be the referee for the friendly international between Scotland and Denmark at Hamp-den Park.

Borg was one of the officials to assist the SFA in the servicing of games last November when the Category 1 referees declared themselves unavailable.

Borg acted as Fourth Official at the Kilmarnock-Aberdeen match.

However, due to bad weather he never actually refereed a match as the one he was scheduled to control, the SFL’s Challenge Cup Final, was postponed.

On that occasion, the SFA gave a commitment to Borg that, in view of what had happened and as a mark of gratitude for his assistance in that particular weekend, he would be invited at the first opportunity to referee an international challenge match.

Today Borg will be assisted by Konrad Borg and Edward Spiteri. Alan Muir is Fourth Official.

Meanwhile, the MFA Referees’ Department will organise a referee beginners’ course, starting on Au-gust 22.
