Ryanair has delivered an early Christmas present to customers by cutting its excess baggage fee by 50 per cent (from €20 to €10 per kilo) from last Monday.

This is the latest customer service change from Ryanair following the launch of its new website and the introduction of 24-hour grace periods for minor booking errors and ‘quiet flights’ (pre-8am and post-9pm).

Reduced airport bag fees will be introduced on January 3 and fully allocated seating will be available on all flights from February 1.

New business and family products are also being developed, along with a new mobile app, tailored country-specific websites and a mobile-responsive website.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said: “We want to say a very sincere thank you to our 81 million passengers and wish them all a very happy Christmas.”
