The article regarding a Wikileaks report (The Times, April 10) quoting former American Ambassador John Getz could lead one to conclude that the information gleaned by him from ‘local commercial sources’ was factual.
The ambassador was clearly misled as his informants put the cart before the horse. To claim that the run on the National Bank of Malta in 1973 was caused by the death of the bank’s vice president is absurd. The reasons for the run have been well documented in the press and in the pending long-standing court cases.
