Half-English, half-Maltese rapper Rumbull is all set to mark the official launch of his debut album with a live performance this Saturday. Titled Cut Throught Island – the misspelling is intentional, in case you’re wondering – the album features nine full tracks, among them his latest release Da Journey, as well as earlier releases Horse’s Head, Lordz of War and bonus track Hold-ups, which was the rapper’s first release.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by UK hip hop stalwart Chemo at London’s Kilimanjaro Studios, the album also features a guest appearance from upcoming rapper Simply Ill on Lordz of War as well as contributions from producers Telemachus (Chemo’s alter ego), Wizard, Scizzahz, Leatherface and Gilson.
Rumbull’s career has evolved as much in the local hip hop scene as it has in the UK, where he lived for a number of years. Besides his residency at the Havana Club in Portsmouth, he has supported various foreign acts in Malta, among them Immortal Technique, R.A. the Rugged Man and Ill Bill.
His performance on Saturday will be part of No Bling Show’s own album launch event for Ċar Kristall.
Doors open at 7pm, with the first act going on at 8pm. Tickets cost €18. For more information, look up the event page on Facebook.
