Relatively new performance venue Serenity is launching a series of rooftop sessions featuring local musicians and DJs.

The first session, held to coincide with the start of summer, is set to focus on Maltese duo acts, with The Shh, Fuzzhoneys and Krishna on the bill. DJ I.You will also be spinning some tunes.

The Shh are Alison Galea and Ian Schranz. With their chilled out sound, somewhat low-fi, somewhat pop, somewhat surf rock, their music is perfect for al fresco, balmy summer nights.

Newcomer on the scene Fuzzhoneys is made up of Francesca Mercieca on guitar and vocals and Caroline Spiteri on drumbeats. The duo already performed to good audience feedback at this year’s edition of Rock the South festival.

Krishna breaks all the traditions of what typically comprises a rock act by creating a full sound with two people – drummer Liam Formosa and bassist Timothy Garrett on bass. The latter is perhaps better known as Curmudgeon, the musician whose forays into experimental and drone have already left their mark on the local scene.

DJ I.You is Three Stops to China guitarist David Grech Urpani’s side project. A collection of his tracks can be streamed on https://soundcloud.com/whereiendandyoubegin .

The concert is being held on Friday at Serenity, Triq it-Tiġrija, Marsa. Entry is at €5 and includes barbecue and cocktails.
