A young Romanian man was yesterday jailed for two years after admitting to stealing jewellery and gold items from the Gold Market in Attard on February 4.

As the arraignment got underway, Ali-Dan Ciocan, 24, who was living in Ġzira, told Magistrate Miriam Hayman that he was guilty and wanted to pay for what he had done wrong.

The magistrate took into consideration his clean police record, early admission and the fact that he had relapsed before jailing him for two years.

Lawyer Mark Busuttil appeared for Mr Ciocan.
