Annual music festival Rock The South this year kicks off in the north with a preliminary round of performances that will see up-and-coming bands competing for a spot on the official summer line-up.

Five bands will be competing during a live event at Rookies to win the right to be part of the festival that will take place on April 9, 10, 11 and 12 . Only two bands will be chosen from among participating bands Pyramid Suns, Shouting at Echoes, Fubar, Central Strip and Phobics. Bands will be judged on originality, stage presence, song-writing and crowd response, partly by judges and the rest by the audience.

After the first round, the four bands with the highest score will go to the semi-finals and battle each other for the final round.

Battle of the North (to Rock the South) performances will be held at Rookies Sports Bar, Buġibba, as follows: February 6 – Pyramid Suns and Shouting at Echos, February 7 – Fubar and Central strip and February 13 – Phobics.

On February 14 and 20 there will be the semi-final rounds and the finals will be held on February 21.
