Local rock band Texanna has steadily etched out a name on the Maltese music scene thanks largely to its powerful live performances in venues all over the island.
Fronted by British guitarist Andy Barnett and featuring bassist Billy B and Jason Smith on drums, the band is no stranger to entertaining the crowds.
This is exactly what they’ll be doing yet again for four consecutive nights when, boosted by the presence of Sweden-based Canadian vocalist Brian Frank and guitarist Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell, the band kicks off its Rock ’n’ Roll Pirates Tour on Thursday.
No stranger to Malta, King Bee vocalist Brian Frank is an established artist and has already fronted Texanna at this year’s Great Beer Festival, a performance that has been rated by many as one of the best throughout the entire event.
Cowell is an equally experienced musician, having played with Bad Company, Samson and Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith’s ASAP project.
More recently, he released the album Guitars, Tears ’N’ Beers, which also features a number of significant guests, among them Steve Conte of New York Dolls, Danny Bowes of Thunder, Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden and Spike of The Quireboys.
Tracks from King Bee and Bucket and Co’s repertoire as well as Barnett’s former band FM will feature in Texanna’s setlist on all four dates.
Texanna’s Rock ’n’ Roll Pirates Tour kicks off at Rookies (Buġibba) on Thursday. The band will also perform at The Grapevine (Bugibba) on Friday, at Notte Bianca (Valletta) on Saturday and at V-Gen (Paceville) next Sunday.
