Recently, I made use of my VISA card to withdraw €100. A few days later, I received a statement from my foreign bank which indicated a debit of €105.88.

Initially, I was angry about the greediness of my bank, especially because I had sufficient funds to cover the withdrawal. However, my bank confirmed that the charge was made by BOV.

I feel that this hefty charge is totally unwarranted because it is no way commensurate with the service rendered.

Needless to say that a lot of tourists, who are the main supporters of the Maltese economy, are ordinary people using such cards for withdrawing similar amounts and even less.

We hear of robbing the rich to help the poor but not robbing the poor to help the rich!
