Lawyer Joseph Brincat yesterday filed a judicial protest claiming roadworks effectively rendered the lower part of Marsa “more closed than Mdina”.

Marsa resident Dr Brincat said works on December 13 Road had caused major inconveniences for residents, for example by blocking access to the bus stop near the Holy Trinity church in central Marsa, leaving locals to walk much further than usual to the next one.

Access for emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and fire engines, was limited and plans to include a flyover would further increase traffic, the lawyer said.

He added that the lower part of the locality had become more closed than Mdina and that the only people the project was benefiting were the contractors.

Dr Brincat asked Transport Malta to reconsider the plans.
