I have just paid my road tax of €105 for 365 days. I only use the car for work purposes on 260 days and every day I am being deprived of using roads because, at the stroke of a pen, someone decides to have a go at solving the disaster that has been created by the new public transport system.

I would like to know whether there are any human rights laws that safeguard the road tax payer and secure his right to use his licensed vehicle freely.

Some roads are closed at certain times of the day to allow students to enter and exit schools. There are roads that are closed for this, that and other reasons.

I was hoping that public transport would solve the traffic problem but no, we still have buses stopping at leisure for as long and wherever they feel like without any consideration for other vehicles.

Going back to the 1960s, I remember my granddad saying that whatever happens in Malta we will never learn and that still rings in my ears, He was 100 per cent right, God bless his soul.

I have used Triq l-Iljun, Qormi for years, going through Żebbuġ to go to Marsa and the south of Malta. Now I am left without an alternative except to lump it and endure the long traffic congestion.

May I thank the armchair managers who run the public transport system and enjoy making fun of the taxpayers, at their own expense. God bless you all.
