A bus driver was jailed for five months suspended for two years for damaging a car in a road rage incident almost five years ago.

Joseph Borg, 48, from Żabbar almost crashed into Keith Galea’s Toyota in St Julian’s in November 2008. He then got off his bus and began kicking Mr Galea’s car, causing €350 in damage.

Three years after the incident, Mr Borg paid Mr Galea for the damage caused.

Magistrate Marsann Farrugia said that, although there was no admission, the fact that Mr Borg had paid for the damage was an implicit admission.

She also noted that the bus driver had five convictions on his criminal record, three of them for traffic offences.

Although the incident was not serious, his actions were, the magistrate said, adding that he had lost control over something so small and deserved to be punished.
