Arriva drivers have not yet received a copy of their union-employer collective agreement because the document has been revised in recent months, the transport operator said yesterday.

“There has been a delay in the introduction of the physical collective agreement document due to a number of updated conditions being agreed between Arriva and the General Workers’ Union during November and December for the benefit of our driver colleagues,” an Arriva spokesman said.

The collective agreement was signed on September 20.

Several Arriva drivers told The Times last week they had still not seen the document and some complained their pay had been reduced since it was signed.

Last week, the firm said some employees were confused with their payslips and did not understand the terms of the agreement.

“We hope to have the finalised document issued shortly to all employees, which will give even greater structure and controls and build on firm foundations already established,” it said yesterday.

The GWU said the agreement will improve working conditions and be a basis for future changes.

It includes fewer working hours, a new wage structure and salary increases, wage differences between drivers of bendy and regular buses, the establishment of a disciplinary board, night allowance, performance bonus and improved sick leave, bereavement leave, marriage leave and maternity leave entitlements, the GWU said.

All shifts will start from Arriva depots and drivers will have health insurance, accumulative breaks and different pay on special occasions.
