A Maltese group of youth volunteers will be giving a hand in the restoration project of a medieval castle in Coucy, north of France.

The group of volunteers, who last year contributed to Din L-Art Ħelwa’s restoration project for the Sanctuary of Tal-Ħniena in Qrendi, were awarded a grant agreement through the EU’s Youth in Action programme.

This will take the form of a youth exchange programme in France with the collaboration of DLĦ’s French partner Union Rempart, an NGO active in the restoration of fortifications and historic buildings.

This follows last year’s activity during which 18 youths took part in cultural interaction and training activities focusing on the conservation of the 1645 Tal-Ħniena church, a historic place of worship and national shrine.
